Helping caregivers develop skills and strategies to support multi-sensory development
For caregivers and infants ages 0-6 months
In this group, parents/caregivers will accompany their infants and participate in activities to promote positive development. Early development provides a foundation for achievement of motor, self-regulation and social milestones later on. Parents will learn information related to early development, stress and readiness signs, positioning and play. Sessions will also include time for hands-on practice implementing learned strategies, such as tummy time, multi-sensory play and infant massage. Grow and Play offers a fun and interactive opportunity to strengthen the bond between parent/caregiver and child.. The group is led by two occupational therapists.
- Gain an understanding of sensory processing through developmental stages
- Learn and build experience recognizing stress and readiness signs
- Learn how and when to implement strategies to promote regulation, including instruction on infant massage techniques
- Improve understanding of tummy time and positive positioning
- Incorporate multi-sensory play to promote future development
Session 1: Tuesdays, September 3rd – October 15th
Session 2: Tuesdays, October 22 – December 10th (no session November 26th)
Cost: $75 per session

Children are expected to attend every session (barring illness), as the sessions build on each other and group dynamics are an important component. These services are billed as Occupational and/or Speech Therapy services and many parents receive partial reimbursement from their insurance companies.If your child is not attending therapy sessions at Emerge, we will be in touch with you to set up a brief free screening to determine if this program is a good match for your child.
